Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Samuels is a proven entrepreneur and seasoned senior executive with an extensive background in product development, marketing, operations, licensing and capitalization for both public and private companies. As CEO and founder of SpectRx, Inc., he established key strategic development partnerships with Abbott Laboratories, Roche Diagnostics, Respironics, Welch Allyn and others. Mr. Samuels also led research, development and commercialization efforts covering four medical device products, including three now on the market and a non-invasive replacement for cervical cancer screening currently undergoing Phase III pivotal trials.
Mr. Samuels obtained over twenty two million dollars of government and strategic partner funding to supplement the sixty five million of equity investment raised during his tenure as CEO, This capital helped fund research and development progress that drove the company’s valuation from one and one half million in 1993 to one hundred and eighty million dollars by 2000.
Mr. Samuels is a named inventor on over nineteen (19) issued U.S patents and a number of US patent applications. In addition to his corporate duties, Mr. Samuels was Vice Chairman of the Georgia BioMedical Partnership, a member of the Georgia Biotechnology Center Advisory Board and was appointed Chairman of the Georgia Senate BioMedical Study Committee by Georgia's Lt. Governor.
Chief Technology Officer
Dr. Bambot has several years of experience in developing innovative medical devices, intellectual property development, regulatory strategy and clinical trials. Dr. Bambot has a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and is an expert in the field of spectroscopy and bio-photonics.
He previously co-founded Guided Therapeutics, a company developing a non invasive cervical cancer diagnostics product. He has been instrumental in the successful launch of two point-of-care medical diagnostic products, the AVL/Roche OPTI 2® blood chemistry analyzer and the Guided Therapeutics BiliChek® Non-invasive Bilirubin Analyzer. Dr. Bambot has several patents and publications in the areas of clinical monitoring and diagnostics and is the recipient of multiple NIH SBIR grants totaling in excess of $6.0 million for developing non-invasive diagnostic devices. He is a frequent reviewer of scientific papers and NIH grant applications and chairs symposia at scientific meetings.
Vice President, Marketing
Mr. De Carolis was previously President and CEO, Elekta Americas a $400 million medical device manufacturer specializing in cancer management and electronic medical records. As CEO of Elekta, he oversaw all corporate functions, including North America sales, which constituted over 40% of Elekta’s worldwide sales, compliance and corporate governance, and legal affairs for the company in relation to local authorities. Mr. De Carolis served as member of Elekta Executive Board in Stockholm, Sweden, and Elekta Holdings Gamma Knife Ventures North America Subsidiary Ventures. Prior to Elekta, Mr. Carolis served in a variety of executive positions in medical and financial companies where he established a track record of managing growth. Mr. De Carolis has a B.S., Economics and Finance, from the University of Pittsburgh.
Vice President, Business Development
Anju Mathew was previously a senior management consultant with renowned strategy consulting firm, A.T. Kearney Inc and multimedia company, Thomson Reuters. Anju has a proven record of leading her clients to success in new market expansions, business development and profitability improvement. She has advised a range of companies including Fortune 500 healthcare, technology and consumer goods firms and has worked in India, Canada and the U.S.
Anju started her career as a product developer with IBM and i2 Technologies. Anju has an M.B.A in marketing and finance from Northwestern's Kellogg School of Management and Bachelors in Industrial Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology. |
