LumaMed signs exclusive agreement with Wellman Laboratories of Massachussets General Hospital, October, 2010 |
LumaMed LLC has entered into an initial agreement with Massachusetts General Hospital to commercialize an imaging system developed at the Wellman Center for Photomedicine that could revolutionize cancer surgery. The technology is complementary to that previously licensed by LumaMed from Providence Hospital in Oregon for teledermatology imaging, and has the demonstrated ability to provide real-time surgical guidance, enabling a surgeon to “see” cancer margins. |

| LumaMed wins the hearts of venture capitalists at the Women 2.0 pitch event in San Francisco, winning the grand prize after competing with approximately 100 applicants in different rounds. Judges in the final round included representatives from several leading local VC firms including Morganthaler Ventures, First Round Capital, Better Planet Investments and Science Futures. Prior rounds had Sand Hills Angels, Mohr Davidow Ventures, August Capital among several others dissect through the various pitches. The presentation showcased the company's business model, products and services and market potential. The competition spanned a wide array of industries including cleantech, consumer goods and technology. Their presentation also won the hearts of the audience as they also walked away with the People’s Choice Award, as voted by the audience with their cell phones, and the VentureBeat Best Media Story Award. | |
